A record of the polyclinic
An HIV-positive Bulgarian woman was in the
special infections unit in a state hospital and
was taking treatment there until November 2013.
Because she was no longer insured, her treatment
was interrupted by the administrative office of the
hospital, despite the fact that the doctors asked
her to continue. PRAKSIS referred the woman to
the Evangelismos Public Hospital, where a formal
written decision to review the first state hospital’s
interruption of her treatmentwas sought, and is
still expected. At the same time, the woman is
taking her treatment again, her status is being
monitored by doctors, and she is supported by an
interdisciplinary team of the Polyclinic in Athens.
