The organization participates in actions relieving fire distressed
populations in Ileia and Evoia. Together with the Greek Network for
Corporate Social Responsibility, it implements the program “The
Next Day”.
PRAKSIS is awarded for the second consecutive year the “Islet of
Quality” from “Citizens Society” and receives the award from the
President of the Hellenic Republic, Mr. Karolos Papoulias.
The largest to date awareness campaign for World AIDS Day is
organised, with the slogan “Hugs transmit love... condoms safety”.
2008
PRAKSIS now operates eight (8) Core Programs
• 2 Polyclinics: Athens and Thessaloniki
• 2 Legal Aid Centers: Athens and Thessaloniki
• 2 Public Health Programs: Athens and Thessaloniki
• 1 Reception Center for ex-prisoners in Athens
• 1 Program “Children the Next Door” in Thessaloniki
Simultaneously, PRAKSIS implements 18 projects co-financed by
Greek Ministries and the EU.
A new campaign titled “Ask First” (“Prota Rota”) is established
as a juvenile awareness campaign by organizing novel events on
the occasion of global days, themed evenings and a nationwide
campaignduring the summer months.
PRAKSIS receives the first prize at the ACE Awards for the
MediaCampaign “Ask First” (“Prota Rota”) as an International
Volunteering Project in Genova.
2009
PRAKSIS intervenes at the points of entry of Samos islandand
Thrace with legal actions and advisory assistance tothird-country
nationals.
An informative hotline for Hepatitis B 800 11 11 600 is established.
PRAKSIS is a key partner of the EU project “Partnership for a
Cohesive Society,” which is targetedto encourage and supportthe
participation of all those who have an active role inthe social
integration of socially vulnerable groups and inthe formulation
and implementation of policies, focusingon the unemployed and
working poor;the elderly;female-headed families with children;
migrants;and the disabled.
PRAKSIS also implements awareness campaigns for third-country
nationals through programs of the European Integration Fund.
2010
PRAKSIS actively implements the pilotprogram“Mobile Information
Unit and Testing for HIV”, thereby providing anyone wishing to be
tested with free, fast and anonymous access to examination.
The PRAKSIS Prevention and Information hotline, 800 11 11 600,is
expanded to cover HIV issues as well as Hepatitis B.
As a member of the network Volonteurope, PRAKSIS welcomes
volunteers from around theworld at the “19thEuropean Conference
on Education in Voluntary Action”, which is hosted in Greece.
PRAKSIS, in cooperation with the NGO ARSIS, initiates the “Mobile
School” program, which goes out on the streetsto bring children
that lack schooling into contact with various educational activities,
with the goal of promoting their access to schools.
Together with “Kentro Zois,” PRAKSIS organizes the innovative
campaign for awareness and prevention of HIV: “Information-
Prevention-Testing: our motto of life”.
2011
PRAKSIS continues its interventions and programs at the Athens
and Thessaloniki Polyclinics while at the same time expanding its
actions at entry and exit points along the Greek border.
PRAKSIS travels to the borders in northern Greece and the
Northeast Aegean islandswith its Mobile Medical Units to provide
primary health care, social support and legal counseling to newly
arrived migrants.
PRAKSIS begins its intervention program in Patras with the goal
of providing protection for unaccompanied minors. Specifically,
PRAKSIS creates a Day Center of information and support for these
children; a “Drop in Center”aiming to identify, inform and connect
with them, to provide primary health services, psychosocial care
and legal counseling. The main scope of the program is toact in the
best interest of the unaccompanied minors who find themselves in
Patras and are in need of international protection. At the same time,
PRAKSIS daily street work interventions help identify, informand
support unaccompanied minors.
