Who we are
PRAKSIS is an independent, Non-GovernmentalOrganization
with its main target the design, application and implementation of
humanitarian and medical actions through specific programs.
Our Target
Our main target is to eliminate social and economic exclusion of
socially vulnerable groups and to defend their individual and social
rights.
The three axes that constitute our work are:
• Prevention
• Immediate intervention/support
• Exertion of pressure and assertion of rights
The programs of PRAKSIS are not considered “a start from zero”,
because they are the next iteration of programs that have been
operating since November 1996. These are programs that have, for
18 years now, offered help to vulnerable social groups regardless
of sex, color, nationality, race, political or religious beliefs or sexual
orientation.
Our beneficiaries are
• Greek poor, homeless and uninsured
• Greekswith insurance
• Asylum seekers and refugees
• Economic migrants
• Undocumented migrants
• Inmates andex-inmates
• Intravenous drug users
• Trafficking victims
• Men having sex with men (MSM)
• Sex workers
• People living with HIV/AIDS
• Unaccompanied minors
• Greek families living below or at the poverty line
... and ingeneral every person experiencing social and/or economic
exclusion and who is deprived of basic goods.
Geographical Scope
PRAKSIS operates throughout Greece and especially in the
regions of Attica, Central Macedonia, the island of Lesvos and the
greater area of Patras. Moreover, with our Mobile Medical Units we
visit the islands of Northern Aegean and the Dodecanese, as well
as Northern Greece from Thessaloniki to Promachonas (near the
border), always in accordance with any emerging needs.
