Three Day Exhibition “Positive in Life” for HIV/
AIDS – Technopolis, Gazi
During the three -day period from 29-30/11 to 01/12, events and
information campaigns were held about HIV, culminating in the
World AIDS Day. PRAKSIS took part in a campaign that aimed to
inform and raise awareness and received a very positive reaction
in Athens, Thessaloniki and Patras.
In Athens, a joint press conference was held by PRAKSIS, KEN-
TRO ZOIS and THETIKI FONI in Technopolis Gazi where results
from the HIV testing week and proposals for further action were
presented to political leaders and citizens. After the press con-
ference, participants walked from Gazi up to Monastiraki square
and formed a huge human red ribbon,the international symbol of
World AIDS Day.
Similaractivities of information and awareness-raising involving
the Mobile Unit and HIV testing were organised in Thessaloniki.
In Patras, in sight of the International Aids Day, PRAKSIS Drop
in center, in collaboration with 16 other actors (Western Greece
Region;the Deputy Mayor for Citizen Support, Volunteerism,
Gender Equality and Immigrant Integration;the Deputy Mayor for
Social Policy, Health and Welfare;Music Band of the Municipal-
ity of Patras; the University of Patras;KETHEA Oxygen; theFamily
Therapy AssociationCommunity Bridge OKANA; the Social Work-
ers Network;HELMSIC; theDepartment of Hygiene, Department
of Medicine of the University of Patras; the Medical Society of
Western Greece and Peloponissos; Doctors of the World;Blender;
theHellenic Red Cross;Cultural Groups of Students from the Uni-
versity of Patras; andA.S.T.O.Communication), organized a series
of raising-awareness and information activities at Saint George
Square.PRAKSIS’ Mobile Unitalso conducted rapid HIV tests us-
ing oral fluid. Free hugs were also given to people passing by, and
a concert was held at a coffeehouse, from whichall income was
given to PRAKSIS.
