DOSE TO PARON/BE PRESENT
The Clothing Room at the Drop-In Center for Unaccompanied
Minors organized the “DOSE TO PARON/BE PRESENT”event
to collect clothing.
International Refugees’ Day
PRAKSIS, the Hellenic Red Cross, Doctors of the World, and
the Vice-Mayoralty Support ofCitizens, Volunteerism, Gender
Equality, and Integration of Immigrantsof the Municipality of
Patras, and the Movement for the Defence of the Rights of
Refugeesand Immigrantsorganized a series of activities in
Agiou Georgiou Square for International Refugees’ Day. These
actions included information on the refugee problem, collection
of clothes, shoes, and medicines, an exhibition of photos and
archival materials, the screening of a documentary, live music,
a discussion with yesterday’s and today’s refugees, and games
originating from the refugees’ countries of origin.
BE HAPI: Give us themedication you don’t need
The Meal Center of the Municipality of Patras hosted an event at
Agia Sofia Square during the International Volunteer Day at Agia
Sofia Square in which the Drop-in Center for Unaccompanied
Minors took part. The Center provided information on PRAKSIS’
programs and collected medication in the context of the
program “Call for Donated Medications. Be hapi (hapi in greek
means pill): Give us the medication you don’t need!”
Academy of Nuremberg
Students and professors of the Private Fachakademie fur
Heilpadagogik in Nuremberg attended the Drop-in Center for
Unaccompanied Minors and were given information about
unaccompanied minors and the problems they deal with in
Greece. After being thoroughly informed by the PRAKSIS
personnel, they decided to organize a concert in Germany and
give all income to the Day Center.
THEATER AT DIPETHE IN PATRAS
The teen play “The Boy with the Suitcase” had its premiere at
DIPETHE in Patras at the Drop-in Center for Unaccompanied
Minors for the beneficiaries (unaccompanied minors).
Information on sexually transmitted infections
(STI)
PRAKSIS held an open discussion at the Drop Center during
which information was given on sexually transmitted infections
(STI) and methods of both transmission and prevention.
International Day for the Rights of Children
On the occasion of the International Day for the Rights of
Children, the Day Center for Unaccompanied Minors (Drop-In
Center) in Patra displayed in its entrance the diary of a child
who is being detained.
International HIV/AIDS Day
In Patras, on the occasion of the International AIDS Day, the
PRAKSIS Drop-in Center organized a series of awareness-
raising and informational activities at George Squarein
collaboration with 16 other bodies. The PRAKSIS Mobile Unit
also conducted rapid HIV tests using oral fluid. Free hugs were
also given to people passing by, and a concert was held at
acoffeebar from which all income was given to PRAKSIS.
Help homeless unaccompanied minors in
Patras
PRAKSIS collected food, clothes (jackets, suits, socks), and
shoes. Drop-In Center personnel (streetwork)brought the
collected food and clothes to abandoned buildings inhabited
by homeless minors.
