The legal services provided by PRAKSIS address all the
individuals who are socially excluded, who are unable to have
access to legal assistance, andwho are confrontedwith practices
which constitute a blatant violation of their fundamental rights
and freedoms by the official authorities.
These services apply both to vulnerable inhabitants of third
countries (beneficiaries of international protection, immigrants,
victims of trafficking, stateless individuals, unaccompanied
minors), as well as to our fellow compatriots (long unemployed
individuals, homeless people, Roma, HIV-positive, drug addicts,
prisoners, ex-prisoners).
The centers primarily provide advisory services, which help
these groups of individuals to cope with problems that arise in
their difficult daily lives.
Moreover, specialized support services are provided to newly-
arrived applicants for international protection who are hosted
in apartments that are managed by PRAKSIS (in Athens,
Thessaloniki, Mitilini), as well as to unaccompanied minors who
come to or reside in existing structures of the organization.
The purpose of the legal department is to provide immediate
and effective assistance to all these population groups. In this
context, it is necessary to evaluate properly each case through
sessions conducted on individual basis, in order to diagnose in
good time the need of each person individually.
In cases where further support of a beneficiary person is needed,
interventions are made at local or national level, in order to find
the best solution. All these actions lend themselves to valid,
immediate and substantial support of our fellowmen.
In certain cases a representation is provided with the cooperation
of a network of bodies.
