STEGI PLUS +
Within the framework of the program“SOAM – Supporting
Organizations that assist migrant populations seeking asylum
in Greece”, PRAKSIS and the HELLENIC RED CROSS run
Accommodation Centers in Athens and Patras that provide
housing to unaccompanied minors and other vulnerable
population groups who seek asylum (e.g., single-parent and large
families, people with chronic diseases, the elderly, victims of
torture, etc.). The aim of the SOAM program is the protection of
vulnerable populations, both through the increase of the places
that accept asylum seekers and the improvement of the services
offered.
The Accommodation Center of Athens provides housing to 3)
unaccompanied minors, while in Patras the Accommodation
Center provides housing to 30 unaccompanied minors and 40
people who belong in vulnerable population groups seeking
asylum.
The services that are provided include:
• Coverage of basic survival needs (housing,
food, healthcare, education, security)
• Psychosocial support
• Legal aid
• Medical/nursing care
• Interpreting / Mediation services
• Personal care services
• Escorting services
• Programs for learning the Greek language,
training, creative occupation, remedial
education
• Organization of cross-cultural activities
• Connections to the job market for adults
