ADDRESSING THE NEEDSOF
UNACCOMPANPANIEDMINORS
The program“ADDRESSINGTHENEEDSOFUNACCOMPANIED
MINORS (UAMs) IN GREECE” was implemented in Greece
from March to December 2013, by PRAKSIS in Athens,
Thessaloniki and Patras,and by PRAKSIS in cooperation with
ARSIS in Thessaloniki. It was coordinated by the International
Organization for Migration and co-funded by the E.U., Sweden,
the Netherlands and Denmark.
The program focused on the voluntary return and reintegration
of unaccompanied minors who wish to return to their families in
their countries of origin. PRAKSIS carried out actions for locating
and informing unaccompanied minors; these actions focused
on streetwork, interventions in Amygdaleza, and informative
activities in the Polyclinics of both Athens and Thessaloniki as
well as in the Day Center for Unaccompanied Minors in Patras.
The Program offered unaccompanied minors who wished to
participate:
•
Coverage of the costs for the issuance of the travel
documents and the return tickets to the country of origin.
•
Provision of aid and support before and after the departure
of the unaccompanied minor for the country of origin.
•
Provision of supporting measures for reintegrating in the
country of origin, related to the education of the minors,
the startup of a small business, field-specific education or
financial support for independent work.
