INTERVENTIONS-SUPPORT
OF VULNERABLE
INDIVIDUALS NEEDING
INTERNATIONAL
PROTECTION AT POINTS
OF ENTRY AND IN AREASOF
LARGE CONCENTRATIONS
OF TARGET GROUPS
Within the framework of the Emergency Measures 2013 of the
European Refugee Fund, from 01/05/2013 to 31/10/2013, MdM-
Greece and PRAKSIS (Programs of Developing Social Support and
Medical Cooperation) are working together to carry out the following
Measure: Provision of Medical, Psychological, and Legal Aid and
enhancement of the identification procedure of vulnerable people
who need international protection, supporting at the same time the
coverage of basic needs at points of entryas well as in regions with
large concentrations of the target groups.
The collaborating bodies developed services of hygienic support,
psychosocial support and legal aid, to refugees/asylum seekers
in the regions of Western and Northern Greece (Patras, the
Dodecanese, Lesvos, Chios, Samos, Central Macedonia, Paranesti,
Poroia, Promachonas and in regions with large concentrations of
target groups that undergo immigrant pressures). The principal aim
of the program was the support of primary medical care towards
people who need international protection, provision of information
on their rights according to the Greek Legislation, and the support
towards claiming these rights. Further objectives were the protection
of the vulnerable populations and the enhancement of local hygienic
structures, aimed at protecting Public Health through primary
medical care for the above population.
AMobileMedicalUnitprovidedprimarymedicalsupport,psychosocial
support, legal aid goods to people who need international protection
and who are being kept within detention centers in Northern Greece
(in the wider region of Thessaloniki to Promachonas).
