AWARENESS AND EXAMINATION
PROGRAM FOR HEPATITIS C
FIRST ASK
Since March 2012, under the framework of Public Health
actions, PRAKSIS has run a free of charge, anonymous
hotline in which specially trained staff provides information
regarding the prevention and the ways of transmission of
the Hepatitis C virus. Additionally, both in the Mobile Unit
and in the Polyclinics of Athens and Thessaloniki, the rapid
test for Hepatitis C (a test performed on oral fluid which
gives results within 20 minutes) is provided on a daily basis,
free and anonymously, without any appointment.
The program was funded by MSD Company.

PRAKSIS working group conducted 2,013
rapid HCV tests in total. Antibodies were
detected in 159 cases.
