EMERGENCY
INTERVENTION
HOUSING
SUPPORT
The action titled Housing Aid concerns the Emergency Measures
of the European Refugee Fund, Measure 4.2.2. for the fiscal year
2012. This action was developed through the collaboration of the
“Greek Council for Refugees” (coordinating body), “Doctors of
the World/ MdM”, “RED CROSS” and PRAKSIS. In total, 2,400
people have benefited (in subsidization of rent and food) from the
four bodies.
The Social Service of PRAKSIS Polyclinics in both Athens and
Thessaloniki has gathered all the cases of individuals and families
which needed aid and faced severe economic problems due to
poor state of services to receive them. The Social Service cov-
ered the wider social needs of 612 people seeking asylum (single
parent and nuclear families, single men, single women and indi-
viduals with chronic health problems/ disabilities).
Out of the 612 people whom we served, 237 were single men, 49
were single women, 15 were families without children, 34 were
families with one child, 11 were families with two children, 10
were large families, 24 were single parent families with 1 child, 10
were single parent families with more than 1 child, and 11 were in-
dividuals with health problems. Additionally, 150 food vouchers of
40 euros were handed out for goods provided by Super Market.
