PILOT PROGRAM FOR HEPATITIS B
FIRST ASK
Under the framework of the ASK FIRST campaign, an ex-
amination program for the potential detection of Hepatitis
B in a sample of 300 individuals was carried out, courtesy
of Bristol-Myers Squibb, the scientific support of Hellenic
Association for the Study of the Liver, and the collabora-
tion of HELPA – PROMETHEUS.
MAIN OBJECTIVE
The main objective of the examination program was to
provide a free examination for the virus of Hepatitis B, by
a trained interdisciplinary group of PRAKSIS, in high-risk
groups as well as in the wider population, with parallel in-
formation on the ways of transmission and prevention of
the virus. The action took place in the Polyclinic of Thes-
saloniki and in external interventions through the medical
mobile unit, in November 2013.
INFORMATION/ DISSEMINATION
PRAKSIS’ medical service distributed informational mate-
rial concerning the ways of transmission and prevention
of Hepatitis B virus to all the beneficiaries at PRAKSIS
Polyclinic as well as to clients of other organizations in the
city. Furthermore, PRAKSIS placed posters in key points
throughout the city and a banner at the entrance of the
Polyclinic. Finally, PRAKSIS produced a video clip which
was played on the mass media.
ACTIONS
Three external actions were realized over the examination
and information on Hepatitis B.
• KETHEA Program, 14 blood sample collections of for-
mer drug addicts
• Region of KAMARA, with the medical mobile unit, 20
blood sample collections
• Eptalofos Square, with the medical mobile unit, 21
blood sample collections
